I was spending the weekend to see some old friends from my alma mater (Texas A & M). I called to see if they had waterproof mattress covers and they told me they didn’t. I brought a Goodnites Bed Mat but my protection did its job thankfully.

Room was clean, no frills hotel with low rates when there’s no events in town (usually under $50). Bring your own shampoo because they don’t provide any. Met my needs for a weekend stay but given the lack of waterproof mattress covers this hotel gets an enuresis friendly rating of a 2.

Macau is like the Las Vegas of China, full of glitz, glamour and Casinos, and located a 1hr ferry ride from Hong Kong. I emailed many hotels in Macau to ask if it’s possible for a waterproof mattress protector to be fitted, but all of them replied fairly quickly to say that they didn’t have them, including the Parisian. However, within a could of hours of saying they didn’t have one, I received another email saying they could put a plastic protector on the bed. I emailed the lady back to confirm and she said it wouldn’t be a problem and to mention it in special requests when booking. I did this and she confirmed she’d received it, had recorded it on my booking and that it would be fitted after I checked in as rooms were allocated when you check in and not before. I wasn’t too keen on that as it can be a bit embarrassing but at least it was covered.

When I checked in the lady at the desk was discreet and said she read it on my booking and housekeeping would be up in the next couple of hours to fit it. When I got to the room and checked the bed it appeared it had already been done, the mattress had been wrapped in a plastic (similar to how some wrap luggage in plastic when flying). The bedding layers were: mattress, plastic wrap, thin padded topper, sheet. It was very noisy with it creaking and groaning every time I moved, and a bit warm in bed but the thin padded topper did take some of the heat away. Although not the best, I was still very grateful that they’d gone to this trouble, especially as none of the other hotels had given it any thought, and I would much prefer that than nothing as at least I was able to sleep without the stress of worrying about wetting. I was there for three nights, and although I did wet for each of them, the protection I was wearing held and plastic sheeting wasn’t needed.
